Emma Just Turned 3

by Lucky Red Hen on July 23, 2006

Fun was had by all at Emma’s 3yr old birthday party Friday. I got these fun pics at the festive event. The girls got makeovers, nails painted and blew a plethera of bubbles (those are my favs).

The cake was especially cool. Christine is quite the gourmet cook (she’ll deny it but we all believe it to be true). Emma chose rice-krispie-treat as her cake so Christine colored it pink, pressed it into a star-shaped bundt pan, sprinkled sprinkles on top and placed it on a beautiful cake plate. It was a little oozy, moved a bit when taken out of the bundt pan but it turned out so cute and extremely tasty!

Hope everyone’s summer is going as well as 3yr old girls at a birthday party!

Family Golfing

by Lucky Red Hen on July 2, 2006

Left to right starting at the top: hubby’s dad/mom, hubby & I with our kids, hubby’s preggo sister & her hubby. Then the next picture is hubby’s sister & her hubby and daughter, hubby’s brother & his wife with their baby then hubby’s 2 youngest brothers.

While we were on holiday with family (hubby’s side) there was a golf course to set the perfect backdrop for pictures… until the sprinklers turned on! Nobody got wet, but we all sure bolted off the greens pretty fast.

Speaking of golfing, I went with Bowler Girl and Azucar for MY FIRST TIME (golfing, of course) last week and had a blast. Surprised that I was not completely and utterly horrible (I mostly kept the ball on the green and only lost 1 ball), I left with excitement looking forward to my next time. However, within the hour my back was KILLING me (I’ve got 3 bulging discs in my lower back from a fender bender years ago) enough to visit the chiropractor immediately then put on a strict regimend of ice and ibuprofen (then another Dr. appt with another tomorrow). It’s been 9 days and I’m still dying — eek. One cool thing from it is I now have a portable electro-shock device that attaches to my back for a little relief. Or to my children if they misbehave.

Just kidding (about the children).

Women's Conference 2006

by Lucky Red Hen on May 10, 2006

Attended my first Women’s Conference at BYU. Granted, the only reason why I went is because my MIL was a presenter (she did great) and she had all her daughters and DIL’s come too. They all (4) stayed here (and I was able to give everyone their own room with a real mattress to sleep on) and everything went well. With that many women in one place there’s bound to be something come up but no.

Except I passed on the virus…

SIL (hubby’s sister), MIL, SIL (married to my hubby’s brother), me and SIL (hubby’s other sister)

LOOKS AREN'T EVERYTHING (but they help)!

by Lucky Red Hen on April 19, 2006

After reading about Queen Scarlett’s darling Kalea, I just had to supply a story of my own.

This is my cute boy and cute girl. Today my story is about the cute girl.

A little background about my daughter… I have NEVER wanted to have a daughter, mainly because my mother cursed me that if I ever were to have a girl, “She will be just like you so you will know what you put your poor mother through!” Gee, thanks for the guilt mom. Nice.

Well, the curse has come to fruition. This little spitfire is so full of spunk I don’t think I really have ever come close (or have I?). Since I’ve put my distaste for me having daughters out in the universe, I shall also emphasis that my love for this little girl is more than I could ever imagined (I thought I could never love another child after my first, as a lot of mom’s think). Now I understand what my mom meant by, “I love you both more than anything but differently.” It’s hard to explain, the scale of love.

Back to the fun stuff. The other day daddy was bringing the kids into the house from the car when P dashed over to the garage freezer and pulled out the icecream. Daddy told her that she had to eat lunch first then maybe she could have some. The little spitfire arched her back (she’s almost 3), hurled the icecream to the floor while screaming at the top of her lungs then belted out, “I… hate… CHRISTMAS!!!” Where that came from I don’t know but daddy mentioned that she’d been calling the recent colored eggs ‘Christmas’ eggs instead of ‘Easter’ eggs. Needless to say she didn’t get icecream after lunch.

Then J and I were mimicking each other in the kitchen (silly sayings, noises, mooing, etc.) while I was making lunch (what is is about lunchtime and this girl?) when P barked at us to stop it because she was annoyed (that we were having fun and she wasn’t?). “P, we are playing nicely and if you don’t like it then go somewhere else until lunch is ready.” Her scowl festered, she pursed her lips and shouted (as she pounded with both fists on the counter), “I… hate… CHRISTMAS!!!

Apparently all this fiesty behavior is supposed to pay off in the end (when is that, exactly)???

www.myTego.com Cellular Phone "Skin"

by Lucky Red Hen on April 6, 2006

Just received my new cell phone “skin” from http://www.mytego.com/ out of Canada and I’m THRILLED beyond compare!

(Plus, today is my 9th anniversary of being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints).

A cell phone skin is a vinyl sticker that helps protect your phone from scratches and damage. I googled skins and found these guys that print WHATEVER you want on your skin. I had to jimmy-rig the system to get the collage effect. They also have iPod, PSP, Gameboy and all other cell phone templates on their website. My photos are a bit pixelated but only up close.

They’re in Canada and the exchange rate saved me a couple bucks (total $20 and some change) and they take PayPal! They last about 6-10 months.

At the end of my order I sent an email to a few friends so they could get 10% off and I would too and this is the code they sent me… RS4267257438. I’m not making any other residuals off this rant-and-rave; I just am so excited about my personalized cell phone!

So to explain the pictures: my daughter is on the left front, my son on the right front and my hubby along the bottom front. The back from top are my friends (some with me and my friends), me with my son, me with my daughter and me with my hubby. Then it’s one of our family pictures, our dog, Cathy’s eyeball that look like a sunflower and a wedding picture I took in December. Along the bottom back was the perfect picture for that spot with my friends and me. Of course I have more than just these 10 friends, but I only had so much room on this little phone :o)

My phone is the Samsung T809 (better than the 2 piece of crap Razr’s I had).

Tell me if you order one & what you think of my design (and see yesterday’s post below if you want to comment on nudity…)
