CA semi-Bridals and The Crash

by Lucky Red Hen on February 21, 2007

Just a few bridals from 2 girls at the CA shoots. One was from my eSession in town (it was RAINING) and the other I snuck into the other group and grabbed a few…

So now onto The Crash…

You may or may not know that I just returned (literally about 2 hours ago) from a visit to Arizona to see my a new bestie, Aimee, her family, longtime friends of mine (10 years) and my bio-dad and his wife (Gary & Jo); and help Aimee shoot her first ‘solo’ wedding. CJane was itchin’ to see her sister, and my friend, NieNie, so we made the commute together.

Let me first say that Miss Courtney is a fine, fine passenger. She attended to Piper every step of the way while I drove the 11.5 hours there and back again; with SONG no less (although Piper wasn’t too fond of hearing her sing – I like it though)! I’ll have to admit that I was a little bit nervous traveling so far with a 3.5yr old that has been cursed to be just like me when I was little (by my mom, when she was mad at me). However, to my utter surprise, Piper was a DREAM in the car; ABSOLUTE (usually reminds me of Vodka ads but not in this example) dream. After almost 24 hours secluded with CJane I would like to publicly admit that I love that girl even MORE than I did before. Granted, I’ve been all lovey dovey lately but I really mean it. And she’s not paying me to say that. Oh, and I’d also like to admit that I find her to be the finest writer I know (because I don’t personally know Stephenie Meyer, who would be my first choice currently). Have you READ her posts on Segullah?

Anyhow, I digress.

Dropped off CJane and eventually made our way to Aimee’s in Queen Creek, Arizona (otherwise known as Egypt because it’s SO far away from everything). On her door was a cute drawing that was quickly thrown away before I could take a picture or stuff it in my suitcase for safekeeping that said I’ve arrived at their hotel and they’re expecting 2 guests. SO cute!!!

Long story short… Piper and I had a GREAT time with Miss Aimee and her cute family (she has 5 adorable kids and one doting/funny husband). They were fabulous hosts even though I flooded 3 rooms and a hallway causing enough damage to warrant a call to restoration experts who quickly tore out 1/2 the 3rd car ceiling, all the baseboards & toe kick in the bathroom and padding under the carpet in 2 rooms and the hall. I KNOW. I was (and still am) physically sick over the whole ordeal even though they were SUPER sweet about the whole thing. Let’s see if we get invited over again ;o)

I messed up on this trip (should I be admitting this publicly). Not saying that because I’m proud of it but because I recognize my part and am sad how some things turned out. One example: I told my bio-dad and his wife that I’d call them over the weekend to iron out the plans for meeting Monday or Tuesday. Well, I slacked and didn’t call until Monday. He told me they wouldn’t be able to see us because they had to make other arrangements. What a big disappointment and a HUGE mistake I won’t be making again. Lesson learned and hopefully I won’t be in the dog house too long. If y’all are reading this… I’m sorry for letting you down.

Sometimes I don’t think things through clearly. Sometimes ;o) Riley can vouch for that (sorry and I hope we will talk soon).

Oh, so the crash… it happened on the way home. My crash consisted of artificial popcorn, Sprite, cheddar Pringles, peanut butter M&M’s, teriyaki beef jerky, whipped brie (who thought that up – it’s disgusting) and crackers. If you read my blog you know that I’ve been on a better eating regimend where I’ve cut out soda, fast/junk food and candy. Well, I slipped on the way home because I was so upset with myself for making so many mistakes over the trip (I know you think I’m pretty close to perfect, but I’m not LOL) and thought that the junk food would fill the emptiness. It didn’t. The food didn’t even taste remotely good. It was gross. Now I know that turning to food isn’t the answer (wait, didn’t I already know that? Obviously not).

Phew… it’s been a week.

You and I rode a bus from Seattle to Columbus, Ohio when you were about that age. You were a dream. Everyone on the bus loved you, especially me!

What an adventure!!I know what you mean about “the crash”. I have been doing weight watchers for a whole month and doing really well. I had a rough week last week (w/ sick kids and no dad around) and yesterday I shot a Korean childrens ceremony. They had all kinds of yummy food and I ate and ate… tempura, bananna rolls, etc. I was all the garbage I have been avoiding and it didn’t even taste good. blah.Back to healthy eating today!Love the pictures. You are a wonderful and kind and talented woman. Isn’t it wonderful to meet new people that you just adore? I am glad you got to know CJane better. Her whole family is pretty amazing.

It takes a big (not in the literal sense) person to admit it when they mess up. You are great! It sounds like fun. I was sort of jealous that you got to go to Arizona with cjane and cjane got to go to Arizona with you and I just got to go to Arizona with a bunch of melodramatic high school kids (OK, not all them were melodramatic, but the six or eight who were made up for the other 52).

I am sorry it wasn’t the trip of your dreams. BUT, thanks for bringing cjane so I could go to lunch with her. And, I’m sure you didn’t flood Egypt on purpose. And, if calling your bio-dad one day late was the only thing you did wrong, I think maybe he was too harsh in not making time for you. And, I don’t know Stephenie Meyer personally, but I have lots of people who know her personally, and maybe next time you come we can arrange a special lunch meeting and we could talk about vampires and werewolves and such.

With her, I mean. She lives in Glendale.

I finally made it over here and took a browse thru your pics. You are doing AMAZING work. I wish I had hot pics of me and fiance smooching on a beach way back when! Ah, the stuff we learn later when chances are gone. Part of life, I guess.I just ate about 10 oreos. does that count as a crash? only I don’t feel bad or sick and wish I had about 10 more that I’d eat right now. I gotta get healthy! help.
